
Field Hockey Climbs to Seventh in NFHCA Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – With two weeks of competition in the books, the Syracuse University field hockey team moved up one spot in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll.
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its first poll of the regular season Tuesday morning.
Syracuse (3-0) bumped up one spot to the number seven slot, picking up 609 points along the way. Iowa jumped six spots to the number one ranking with 902 points and 35 first-place votes. North Carolina was second with 866 points and nine first-place selections. Northwestern was third at 774 points and two top nods. Maryland polled fourth with 721 points while Louisville was fifth with 683 points with a first-place vote.
All seven ACC programs were ranked this week: No. 2 North Carolina, No. 5 Louisville, No. 6 Virginia, No. 7 Syracuse, No. 13 Duke, No. 16 Boston College, and No. 17 Wake Forest.
The No. 7 Orange open a busy three-game week on Wednesday night, hosting local rival Cornell at 6 p.m. ACC Network Extra will have the broadcast, with Ian Nicholas and Jesse Cook on the call. Admission for all home Syracuse field hockey games is free.
