
4 Event Wins Highlight Nittany Lion Challenge

Syracuse took the top-six spots in the men's 60-meter hurdles, won four events and tied a school record in their return to the track at the Nittany Lion Challenge on Saturday.
Jaheem Hayles led 'Cuse runners to take the top-six spots in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing with the win in 7.93 seconds. He was followed in succession by Anthony Vazquez (7.96 seconds), David Peters with a personal best (8.00 seconds), Emanuel Joseph (8.01 seconds), Naseem Smith (8.04 seconds) and Isaiah Lewis (8.14 seconds). Hayles' time is the 18th-best in the nation to date this season.
Trei Thorogood tied Syracuse's school record in the 60-meter dash for the second-straight meet, crossing the line in 6.67 seconds and earning the win. Daijon Richards (6.99 seconds) and James Nmah (7.01 seconds) were 15th and 17th in the event behind Thorogood. The two 6.67 second marks by Thorogood thus far rank 18th nationally this season among the nation's top times.
Taleea Buxton won the women's hurdles, Shaleah Colaire (8.59). Peyton Rollins was just 0.02 seconds from reaching the final, finishing ninth in 9.00 seconds, while CJ Fox (9.20 seconds), Kirstyn Schechter (9.46 seconds) and Olivia Etienvre (9.50 seconds) also competed.
Kahniya James won the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.54 seconds. Teammates Olivia Garner (7.77 seconds), Kaleia Arrington (7.77 seconds) and Morgan Marshall (7.80 seconds) were 12th, 13th and 14th, respectively.
Nmah finished seventh in the 200 later in the meet, crossing the line in 22.11 seconds. Richards was 23th in 23.15 seconds. Arrington was the Orange's top finisher in the women's 200-meter dash, taking ninth (25.15 seconds), two spots ahead of Peyton Rollins (25.29 seconds). Garner was 21st in 25.70 seconds.
Elijah Mallard took fourth in the men's 400-meter dash. He posted a time of 48.26 seconds, winning his heat. Shayla Ford (59.10 seconds) finished 12th in the women's race. Mallard's time ranks in the top-40 nationally in the event this season to date.
The day concluded with the men's 4x400-meter relay, where the Orange turned in a seventh-place finish. The group of Nmah, Thorogood, Vazquez and Mallard posted a mark of 3:18.99. The women's relay team of Ford, Schechter, James and Colaire turned in a time of 4:00.94, which was good for 12th.
The Orange return to action next weekend.
