Syracuse will resume College Hockey America action this weekend with a series at Penn State. The Orange will play the Nittany Lions on Friday, Jan. 19 (6 pm) and Saturday, Jan. 20 (2 pm) at the Pegula Ice Arena in University Park, Pa. Syracuse (4-18-2 overall, 1-8-1 CHA) leads the series against Penn State (13-10-1, 9-7), winning 30 of the 49 games the teams have played. The record is 30-11-8 in favor of the Orange.

Orange goaltender Allie Kelley entered her name in the Syracuse record book on Tuesday against St. Lawrence posting a single-game mark of 65 saves. In the process she surpassed the 3,000-career saves plateau against the Saints. She now ranks third on the Syracuse single-season saves record list with 794 and has a career saves tally of 3,017 in 92 games.

Senior forwards Darci Johal and Tatum White paced the Orange in the scoring column and the faceoff circle. Johal tallied one goal and two assists, increasing her consecutive games scored mark to three. She and forward Kate Holmes lead the team in scoring with 17 points each (eight goals and nine assists). White also moved up a Syracuse record list, climbing into the fifth spot on the Syracuse career faceoff wins list. She has 729 wins in the circle in her Orange career.

- For the second year in a row, Syracuse senior Sarah Thompson is a nominee for the 2024 Hockey Humanitarian Award, which is presented annually to college hockey's "finest citizen" and seeks to recognize college hockey players who contribute to local and/or global communities in a true humanitarian spirit. The Ottawa, Ontario native is one of 18 student-athletes in consideration for the honor. Two years ago, Thompson launched 'Sticks Together' to provide children opportunities in sport. Thompson has led two 'Sticks Together' events during the past two summers and is currently planning the third event for this summer in Tigman Village, Palawan. The events focus on providing opportunities for children in disadvantaged areas to learn and grow through the sport of ice hockey.
- Forward Kate Holmes scored a career-best two goals and forward Darci Johal tallied a personal-best three points and a career-high two assists against St. Lawrence. Holmes had previously scored one goal in 15 games. Johal had tallied two points in three games, including at Mercyhurst on Jan. 13, 2024, and had one assist in six games during her career, including at RIT (12/1/2023).
- Syracuse has 330 blocked shots in 24 games this season, including a season-high 23 at Mercyhurst (1/12/2024). Defensemen Kailey Langefels leads the Orange with 35, while Alexandria Weiss has 33 blocks and forward Darci Johal has 32.
- Orange National Letter of Intent (NLI) signee Jessica Cheung played for Team Canada at the 2024 IIHF U18 Women's World Championships in Zug, Switzerland. Team Canada beat Finland 8-1 Finland in the bronze medal game after losing to Czech Republic, 4-2, in the semifinals.Team Canada advanced to the quarterfinals with three wins in pool play. It beat Germany (11-0), Czech Republic (8-1), and Finland (10-0). beat Switzerland, 6-0, in the quarterfinal to advance to the semifinals slated for Jan. 13. The Championship game is Jan. 14.
