
Field Hockey Steady at Fifteen in Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For a third-straight week, the Syracuse University field hockey team held the number 15 spot of the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced its week four poll Tuesday morning.
The Orange (6-3, 1-2 ACC) picked up 308 points this week after splitting results at Wake Forest and Duke last week, shutting out both ACC foes.
North Carolina, which was idle last week, remained atop the poll with 1,029 points and 28 first-place votes. Northwestern was second with 1,008 points and the remaining 25 first-place votes. Virginia was third with 930 points followed by Ohio State at fourth with 888 points. Maryland rounded out the top five with 766 points.
Seven ACC teams were inside the top 20 this week: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 Virginia, No. 11 Boston College, No. 12 Duke, No. 15 Syracuse, No. 16 Louisville, and newly-minted No. 20 California.
During the 2024 season, Syracuse will face half of this week's NFHCA Division I Top 20: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 Virginia, No. 4 Ohio State, No. 8 UConn, No. 11 Boston College, No. 12 Duke, No. 14 Princeton, No. 16 Louisville, No. 17 Penn State, No. 20 California.
Syracuse returns to J.S. Coyne Stadium this weekend after a four-game road swing. It will be a pair of top 20 games as the No. 15 Orange host No. 16 Louisville (5-5, 1-1 ACC) Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. and take on longtime rival No. 14 Princeton (5-3) Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m. Both games are on ACC Network Extra.
