From the Start
- The regular season finale is here as the No. 12 Orange lineup against No. 9 Boston College Friday afternoon at J.S. Coyne Stadium.
- Friday concludes the regular season as the Orange are seeking the most regular season victories of the Lynn Farquhar Era (2023) and the most since going 14-4 during the 2022 regular season.
- Syracuse is 6-1 at the friendly confines of Coyne Stadium this season while the Eagles are 3-4 on the road this season.
- Following Friday's game, the program will honor and recognize its nine-member group of seniors and graduate students: #1 Louise Pert, #2 Berber Bakermans, #3 Vivian Rowan, #14 Lottie Summers, #20 Olivia Bell, #16 Bo van Kempen, #18 Daisy Frank, #23 Willemijn Boogert, and #82 Abby Neitch.
The Postseason Measuring Stick
- A statistical measure of a team's successes stacked against its opponents and its opponents' opponents, the Rating Percentage Index (RPI) is a big measuring stick for postseason berths.
- Syracuse currently boasts the ninth-best RPI in Division I at .63338. That strength is backed by an 8-1 nonconference record, playing in the ACC with the best conference RPI in Division I, and taking care of business against teams behind Syracuse in the RPI.
- Since the second RPI standings came out on September 29, Syracuse has steadily progressed up the standings. On September 29, Syracuse had the 17th best RPI before moving up to 12 the following week. After two weeks in the 11 spot, the Orange cracked the top 10 with the ninth-best RPI this week after taking down UConn on the road.
- The Orange have the ninth-best opponent success mark in Division I, the 11th-best opponent strength of schedule (meaning SU foes are also playing quality teams), while the Orange have the 10th-best Road RPI in the country, aided by a 6-3 road record.
Making LL Cool J Proud
- Don't call it a comeback - they've been here for years.
- Despite trailing 1-0 entering the fourth quarter last Sunday at UConn, Syracuse rallied past the Huskies for a 3-1 top-10 win on the road.
- Since head coach Lynn Farquhar took over the program last season, Syracuse has put together seven come-from-behind victories, including three this year, trailing No. 16 Louisville (W, 2-1), No. 18 California (W, 2-1 OT), and No. 8 UConn (W, 3-1).
- The biggest come-from-behind win in the Farquhar Era was her first at Syracuse, overcoming a 2-0 deficit against Cornell to win 4-2 on Sept. 6, 2023.
- Farquhar's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory was a come-from-behind win last year, trailing No. 7 Liberty 1-0 with three minutes to go before tying it up and winning on an overtime penalty corner.
We Have That in Common: Boston College
- As expected between ACC teams, Syracuse and Boston College share plenty of opponents.
- The only nonconference opponent both teams played was Northeastern in the early goings. Both Syracuse and BC beat the Huskies.
