Omeze Earns Spot on ACC All-Freshman Team

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse men's soccer freshman Chimere Omeze has been named to the 2024 ACC All-Freshman Team, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon. The Brampton, Ontario native is the ninth player in program history to receive this recognition.

Omeze joins a strong group of Syracuse players who have previously earned this accolade, including Julian Buescher (2014), Kamal Miller (2015), Miles Robinson (2015), Mo Adams (2016), Tajon Buchanan (2017), Ryan Raposo (2018), Deandre Kerr (2020), and Curt Calov (2021).

Omeze started in all 16 contests he appeared in this season, logging 1,305 minutes on the pitch, the fourth-most on the team. The freshman tallied three goals, including a team-high two game-winning scores in victories over Colgate (Aug. 22) and Providence (Oct. 8). He also added one assist for a total of seven points, the third-most on the squad.

In his collegiate debut at Colgate, Omeze made an immediate impact, playing the full 90 minutes on the backline and netting the decisive 88th-minute game-winner to secure a 1-0 victory for the Orange over the Raiders.

Omeze's standout efforts this season earned him a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer Midseason Top 100 Freshmen list, ranking him as the 27th-best freshman in the nation.
