#17 Orange Win Home Finale on Senior Day

No. 17 Syracuse (23-5, 13-4 ACC) bounced back in thrilling fashion to take down Pitt (8-21, 2-14 ACC) 63-53, inside the JMA Wireless Dome Sunday afternoon. Celebrating Senior Day for the Orange, SU ties a program record for regular season wins in a season with 23 wins and gain their first 13-win ACC season since 2015-16.

Syracuse's five seniors, Dyaisha Fair, Alaina Rice, Cheyenne McEvans, Dominique Camp, and Izabel Varejão, were honored in a postgame celebration by second-year head coach Felisha Legette-Jack, staff, and Orange fans. In the game, Rice had four points and five rebounds, while Varejão started her seventh game in orange and blue.

Fair, playing her last regular season game inside the Loud House, passed Brittney Griner for fifth on the NCAA Women's Division I Career Scoring List, as her 23-point performance brought her to 3,302 career points. Fair has scored at least 20 points in seven of the last 10 games, including three 30+ point performances.

Pitt's Liatu King led the Panthers in scoring with 29 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
'Cuse opened scoring on a Georgia Woolley jumper. Pitt answered with a 12-2 run to take an eight point lead that SU would answer with a 7-0 run to cut the lead to one. The Orange took a one point lead into the quarter break, which saw Pitt earn a five point lead into the half. The Panthers would lead through the entire third quarter, but 'Cuse would not give up. Syracuse outscored Pitt 22-4 in the final 10 minutes, and ended the game on an 11-0 run to give SU the double-digit win.Â

Syracuse finishes their home regular season schedule 14-2 inside of the Loud House, their best home record since being 13-1 in 2016-17. Their 14 wins at home included back-to-back 18+ point comebacks against Clemson and No. 15 Florida State, as well as a 101-53 victory against Central Connecticut State. The Orange also had the second-highest attended game in program history with 9,109 fans against Saint Francis.Â
