
Orange Lose Home Opener

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse lost to Georgia Tech, 5-1, in the team's home opener Thursday evening at Skytop Stadium.
Madison Knight threw all seven innings for the Orange (14-14, 2-8 ACC), while Sophia Voyles and Makayla Coffield split the duties in the circle for the Yellow Jackets (23-12, 9-4 ACC).
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST THE YELLOW JACKETS:
Georgia Tech took a 2-0 lead in the third following back-to-back, two out knocks from Madison Dobbins and Mallorie Black. The Yellow Jackets added to their lead in the fourth with an RBI single off the bat of Abby Hughes.
Syracuse cut into the deficit in the home half of the fourth, when freshman Makenzie Foster stepped to the plate. The freshman singled to right, scoring junior Taylor Posner.
Georgia Tech tacked on insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings, taking a four-run lead.
