
ACC Championships Wrap Up for Track

The ACC Championships concluded on Saturday for the Orange track and field programs. Seven athletes – five men and two women – earned All-ACC performances over the course of the weekend and four reached the podium (top-three) in their respective events.
On Saturday, Jaheem Hayles was the ACC runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles. He crossed the line in 13.80 seconds, 0.18 seconds behind Florida State's Tyson Williams for the meet win. Teammate Naseem Smith (14.24 seconds), placed seventh to add to the scoring.
Trei Thorogood earned bronze in the 100-meter dash in a personal-best time of 10.39 seconds. Ismael Kone of Florida State earned the meet win in 10.25 seconds.
Benne Anderson finished fifth in the 1,500-meter run. The true freshman scored at both the indoor and outdoor championships this year. His time of 3:42.93 put him in position to earn All-ACC. North Carolina's Ethan Strand (3:40.43) was the winner.
Elijah Mallard added to the All-ACC finishes with a sixth-place performance in the 400-meter hurdles. He crossed the line in 51.70 seconds.
The Orange 4x100-meter relay team posted a time of 40.23 seconds on the men's side to take fifth, opening the final day of competition. The time was a season-best mark. The women's relay team placed seventh in 45.83 seconds.
Perry Mackinnon was 14th in the men's 5,000-meter run posting a time of 13:58.63, followed five spots later by freshman Connor Ackley (14:05.01). Olivia Joly was 31st in the women's event with a mark of 17:20.63.
Athletes who qualify will compete at the NCAA East Preliminary round in two weeks.
