The Syracuse hockey team opened the second half of their 2024-25 campaign at No. 4 Minnesota Duluth on Thursday, in the first of a two-game series that was rescheduled from earlier this season.
The Bulldogs' three-goal onslaught in the second period proved to be the deciding factor in a 6-2 victory. Allie Kelley made 44 saves in goal for the Orange to keep things tight through most of the game.
Duluth got on the board first with under four minutes remaining in the opening period, when Caitlin Kraemer found the back of the net on a power-play chance.
The Orange then evened things up on a power play of their own, as Charli Kettyle scored on helpers from Jackson Kinsler and Sami Gendron. Kettyle's tally came just over two minutes into the second period.
The Bulldogs then opened things up, regaining the lead less than four minutes later with a score from Olivia Wallin. Clara Van Wieren and Jenna Lawry added scores in the second frame to head to the final intermission with a 4-1 lead.
Bryn Saarela scored in front on assists from Tatum White and Kinsler, before Minnesota Duluth's Mary Kate O'Brien notched the final goal to give a 6-2 final result.
The two squads are back in action to close the series on Friday at 4 p.m. eastern.
