NEWARK, Del. – Syracuse University women's ice hockey won an overtime thriller 2-1 at the University of Delaware on Friday night at Fred Rust Ice Arena.
Syracuse (3-4-0, 1-0-0) scored first when freshman Jordan Blouin tallied her second goal of the season. Celia Wiegand scored the game-winning goal just six seconds left at the end of the 5-minute overtime period to give the Orange their first Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) win of the season. Goaltender Ava Drabyk finished the night with 26 saves.
Delaware (1-6-0, 0-3-0) evened the game in the second period with a Kaitlin Finnegan goal, but the effort fell short in the end. Goaltender Charlotte Payne recorded 48 saves in total.
