
Orange Steady in NFHCA Top 10

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Syracuse University field hockey remains in the top 10 of the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, despite a one-goal setback against a team now ranked first in the country. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its week seven poll Tuesday morning.
Syracuse (10-4) picked up 131 points for ninth place again this week, trailing No. 8 Duke by 13 points. North Carolina moved into the top spot with 215 points and six first-place votes. Northwestern slipped to number two for the first time this season with 209 points and the remaining five top selections. Virginia held at number three with 194 points, one point ahead of Harvard in fourth place. Princeton moved into the top five with 172 points.
Seven of the Syracuse opponents were ranked in the top 20 this week, including half of the top 10 teams: No. 1 North Carolina, No. 3 Virginia, No. 5 Princeton, No. 6 Wake Forest, No. 8 Duke, No. 17 Rutgers, and No. 18 Ohio State.
The ninth-ranked Orange head for Newton, Massachusetts this weekend to face longtime foe Boston College. Game time on ACC Network is slated for 6 p.m. at the Eagles' Field Hockey Complex. Syracuse and Boston College meet for the 42nd time in series history and have played every year since 2008.
