
Field Hockey Remains Top Five

West Coast Road Trip on Tap for 'Cuse
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After improving to 9-2 on the season, Syracuse University field hockey remained in the number five spot in this week's Penn Monto NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced its week five poll Tuesday morning.
Syracuse picked up 166 points, tying with ACC foe Wake Forest for fifth in the ranks this week. The remainder of the top five was unchanged this week with Northwestern at the top with 220 points and all 11 first-place votes. Virginia was second with 208 points, edging out North Carolina's 199 points. Harvard remained at number four with 186 points.
Eight 2025 opponents were ranked in the top 20 this week as Ohio State rejoined the poll: No. 2 Virginia, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 8 Princeton, No. 9 Duke, No. 14 Rutgers, No. 15 Ohio State, No. 19 Louisville.
The Orange head west for the California swing this weekend. No. 5 Syracuse opens with Stanford (4-6, 1-3 ACC) Friday night with a 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET game at Varsity Turf. The road trip wraps up with California (4-5, 0-3 ACC) on Sunday with a 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET start at Underfill Field. This will be the first California trip for the Orange since 2019.
