Syracuse women's basketball enters Saturday's ACC showdown against Duke riding a six-game winning streak and sporting an unblemished 9-0 home record. The Orange (11-1, 1-0 ACC) have been dominant at the JMA Wireless Dome this season, winning their last 11 regular season home games dating back to last season.
Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. at the JMA Wireless Dome and will be televised nationally on ACC Network with Mark Feely and Stephanie White on the call. Fans attending the game are encouraged to wear ORANGE for an Orange Out. Make sure to stop by the marketing table to college this game's player roster card and for some Syracuse women's basketball swag.Â
Head coach Felisha Legette-Jack's squad is looking for its first victory over Duke with the Orange alum at the helm and first home win against the Blue Devils since 2018. A victory would improve Syracuse to 12-1, marking the best start of Legette-Jack's tenure on The Hill.
Freshman sensation Uche Izoje continues to make her case for ACC Rookie of the Year after earning the conference's weekly honor for a third time this season on Dec. 21. The 6-foot-3 center leads the ACC in blocks per game (2.9), ranks fourth nationally in that category, and also paces the conference in field goal percentage (63.1%). Izoje is averaging 13.2 points and 8.3 rebounds while providing elite rim protection with 35 blocks through 12 games.
The Orange's balanced attack features four players averaging double figures. Senior guard Laila Phelia (12.3 ppg) and graduate student Dominique Darius (12.2 ppg) complement Izoje's interior dominance, while junior Sophie Burrows provides perimeter scoring at 9.2 points per game. Darius recorded a career-high 10 assists in the recent win over Colgate, showcasing her playmaking abilities.
Syracuse ranks third nationally in offensive rebounds per game (19.2) and has dominated the glass in recent games, grabbing 55+ rebounds in three consecutive contests. The Orange's defensive intensity has been suffocating, allowing just 54.4 points per game while forcing 22.0 turnovers per contest.
With an 11-game home winning streak and momentum on their side, Syracuse looks to defend the Dome and secure a statement win against the Blue Devils on Saturday afternoon.
