Syracuse Drops Battle to Stanford, 79-58

Syracuse women's basketball (10-14, 4-9 ACC) fell to Stanford (12-12, 4-9 ACC), 79-58, inside Maples Pavillion in Stanford, CA on Thursday night. The loss ends a two-game win streak for the Orange, as the Orange fail to score over 60 points for the first time since Jan. 19 against Boston College.

SU was paced in scoring by Georgia Woolley with 18 points, the only 'Cuse player to score in double figures in the contest. Sophie Burrows led the team in rebounds with eight boards, while Olivia Schmitt dished out a team-best three assists.

Stanford was led in scoring by Elena Bosgana with 18 points. The Cardinal had five players score in double figures.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stanford started the game hot, making five treys in the first frame of action to gain an early 27-13 lead. The Orange picked up the energy in the second, opening with a Woolley three-pointer and using a pair of treys from Madeline Potts to cut the lead to 10 with 7:07 left before halftime. The Cardinal responded with a 7-0 run to give themselves a 15-point lead going into the halftime break.

The third quarter was tightly contested, as six different Orange players recorded a bucket in the frame. Stanford took a 14-point lead into the final frame of action, closing out the first conference matchup between the two programs with a 79-58Â Cardinal win.
