ATHENS, Ga. – Syracuse softball (9-0) returns to Georgia for the 22nd Annual Georgia Classic from Feb. 20-23 at Jack Turner Softball Stadium. The Orange will face Buffalo, Utah Valley, and App State once each, along with two matchups against No. 9 Georgia, their first ranked opponent of the season.
The Georgia Classic begins Thursday night (Feb. 20), but Syracuse opens play on Friday, Feb. 21, at 10:30 a.m. against Buffalo. The Orange will also take on Utah Valley later that day at 1 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 22, 'Cuse will face host and top-10 opponent Georgia at 3:30 p.m. The tournament concludes on Sunday, Feb. 23, with match ups against App State at 10:30 a.m. and Georgia at 1 p.m.
Both of Syracuse's games against Georgia will air live on SEC Network+. Live stats will be available for all five contests, allowing fans to follow along with the action.
ORANGE UPDATE:
The Orange enter the Georgia Classic with a perfect 9-0 record after sweeping their games at both the UNCW Tournament and The Columbus Classic. The nine-game unbeaten streak marks the best start to a season in program history. Syracuse is one of 13 remaining unbeaten teams in Division I softball. The list includes one other ACC school, Stanford, which the Orange will face in their conference opener.
The Syracuse offense, led by Madelyn Lopez, Angie Ramos, and Tessa Galipeau, recorded 33 total runs at The Columbus Classic, securing two five-inning run-rule wins over LIU and Tennessee Tech. Lopez, who holds a team-best .536 batting average, collected six hits, five runs, and three RBIs. Ramos, hitting .522, posted a career-best 4-for-4 performance in the finale against LIU, adding three runs and two RBIs. Galipeau contributed seven RBIs on five hits over the weekend.
Syracuse has been among the best in the country in the circle so far this season. Through the first two weekends of play, the five-player pitching staff has recorded a nation-leading 0.36 team ERA, allowing three earned runs in nine games. Julianna Verni and Madison Knight have each made four appearances, with Verni earning four wins and Knight securing three. Knight has yet to allow an earned run, with her only run given up being unearned.
'Cuse had a standout performance from freshman Kaimi Tulua at The Columbus Classic. In her first three career appearances, including two starts, she recorded four hits, hit her first home run, and drove in seven runs. The Orange have also received contributions from their other newcomers, as well, including transfer Jadyn Burney, who is batting .417 with five hits in her four games played so far this slate.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Buffalo is 1-4 to start its season after competing in the UNLV Desert Classic to open 2025. The Bulls' offense was led by Lily Lauck and Emily Gorman, who went 5-for-10 and 7-for-16 at the plate, respectively.
Utah Valley is currently 2-8 through 10 games this campaign. The Wolverines have picked up wins over Boise State and San Jose State, with Megan Gibbs and Tatum Hall leading the way with their .348 and .333 batting averages, respectively.
No. 9 Georgia is 9-0 to start the season, joining Syracuse as one of the 13 remaining unbeaten teams in Division I softball. The Bulldogs have been led by Dallis Goodnight, who leads the team with a .520 batting average, 13 hits, 12 runs, and just two strikeouts in 25 at-bats.
App State has recorded one win through its first nine games of 2025, earning a 9-3 victory in its season opener against Southern Illinois. The Mountaineers' offense has been led by Grace Barrett, who has collected 14 hits, including six doubles, and 13 runs batted in.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THIS WEEKEND'S OPPONENT
Syracuse and Buffalo have faced off 16 total times in the series history, with the Orange holding a 12-4 edge in wins.
The contest between 'Cuse and Utah Valley will be the first between programs.
