
Syracuse Sweeps Robert Morris, Rolls to 5-1 Win

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Syracuse University women's ice hockey continued its impressive run, skating to a 5-1 win over Robert Morris at the RMU Island Sports Center on Saturday night. The Orange extended their winning streak to a season-best five games and recorded their second-straight series sweep.
Syracuse (12-20-0, 10-8-0 AHA) took the lead early with an even-strength goal from Nea Tervonen, assisted by Stella Costabile and Sami Gendron. Costabile then netted an unassisted goal, putting the Orange ahead 2-1 in the second period. Later in the frame, Heidi Knoll scored with assists from Jessica Cheung and Charli Kettyle. In the third period, Bryn Saarela added another goal, with help from Maya D'Arcy and Peyton Armstrong. With just four minutes remaining, Armstrong concluded the game with an empty-net goal to make it 5-1.
Goalkeeper Allie Kelley had an outstanding performance, stopping 24 shots and maintaining a .96 save percentage, with only one goal getting past her across 60 minutes of play.
Robert Morris (8-21-3, 2-14-12 AHA) briefly narrowed the gap on a goal from Catriona Crarer, with an assist from Laura Eustace. Between the pipes, Lucy Phillips turned away 26 shots.

How it Happened
- As the teams skated five-on-five, Tervonen received the puck in the offensive zone from Costabile and Gendron. Finding space between the defensemen, Tervonen fired a shot, scoring at the 1:17 mark of the first period.
- Robert Morris pulled one back at 17:49 of the first period. Crarer, positioned in the high slot, took a pass from Eustace and cut the deficit to 1-1.
- In the second period, Costabile restored the Orange's one-goal lead when she intercepted a loose puck near the blue line and fired a shot past the RMU goalie.
- At the second period's 16:54 mark, Knoll scored, with Cheung and Kettyle assisting on the play.
- In the third period, D'Arcy and Armstrong combined to create an opportunity for Saarela, who added another goal to extend the 4-1 lead.
- With four minutes remaining, Armstrong iced the game, sending a shot into the empty net for a 5-1 final score.
- Saarela scored her 15th goal of the season, while Costabile added her fourth goal of the year. Knoll tallied her second goal of the season, and Armstrong netted her fourth goal of the campaign. Tervonen also recorded her sixth goal of the season.
- Syracuse played a disciplined game, staying out of the penalty box for the entire 60 minutes.
- For the sixth time this season, four or more different Syracuse players found the back of the net in-game, reinforcing the team's balanced scoring attack.
