THE GAME

- With a win on Saturday, Syracuse would secure an ACC Regular Season Co-Champion title and earn the top seed in next week's ACC Men's Lacrosse Tournament.
- Prior to Saturday's game, the Orange coaching staff and players will honor 12 seniors.
- The 10th-ranked Orange dropped their last two outings, including an 11-7 setback last weekend at Duke, but Syracuse has won three straight at the JMA Wireless Dome, including an ACC win back at the beginning of the month.
- No. 8 North Carolina stumbled on its last outing, falling 12-6 at home against Notre Dame last weekend in the Tar Heels final home game of the regular season.
- Syracuse has won the last two meetings between the Orange and the Tar Heels, picking up a 10-9 win in Chapel Hill last spring.
- The Orange are 7-1 at home so far in 2025 while the Tar Heels are 3-1 in true road games, dropping their last road game 13-12 at Army West Point.Â
- ACC Network will be on hand for Saturday's game will Chris Cotter and All-American midfielder Paul Carcaterra '97 calling the regular season finale.
- Tim Leonard '20 (play-by-play) and Kyle Fetterly '09 (analyst) take to the airwaves on Syracuse Sports Network and TK99/105 locally, Cuse.com, The Varsity App, and TuneIn App, as well as Syracuse University student-radio station WAER.
YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW
- Seeding is up for grabs this weekend as the ACC teams conclude their regular season slate.
- The No. 10 Orange host No. 8 North Carolina to wrap up the league schedule with the 5 p.m. game. Notre Dame is on its conference bye week and hosting Penn while Duke heads to Virginia on Saturday for a 3 p.m. game.
- A win on Saturday will secure the number one seed in next week's ACC Men's Lacrosse Tournament at American Legion Memorial Stadium on May 2 and May 4.
- If Syracuse doesn't win, it triggers two: scenarios. The Orange would be the three seed in the Tournament with a loss and a Virginia win over Duke, making Notre Dame the one seed and North Carolina the two seed. Or Syracuse would be the four seed with a loss and Duke win over Virginia, making Notre Dame the one seed, North Carolina the two seed, and Duke the three seed at 2-2 with Syracuse at 2-2, but the Blue Devils have the tie-breaker.
SENIOR DAY AND ALUMNI WEEKEND
- Saturday's game will be Senior Day as the program will recognize a dozen student-athletes prior to the contest.
- Nick Caccamo, Tyler Cordes, Greg Elijah-Brown, Jack Fine, Kyle Gonsiorek, Finn Kelly, Paul Lamonaca, Nathan LeVine, Carter Rice, Johnny Richiusa, Barrett White, and Kyle Rolley will all be recognized on the field.
- While there are several graduate students and fifth-year student-athletes playing in their final regular season home game, they have elected to keep the light on the senior class.
- Collectively, this group were all freshmen during head coach Gary Gait's first year at the helm, and have weathered the storm to help see Syracuse continue its return to prominence in college lacrosse.Â
- The Class of 2025 has a cumulative record of 33-27, including winning seasons in each of the last three years with a return to the NCAA Tournament last spring.
- At halftime of Saturday's game, Syracuse athletics will recognize the program's alumni in attendance, including members of the 2000 NCAA Division I National Championship team, the program's seven such title and the first of five under then second-year head coach John Desko.
THE NORTH CAROLINA SERIES
- Saturday will be the 33rd time Syracuse and North Carolina meet since the 1981 season.
- The Orange are 20-12 all-time against the Tar Heels, including a 7-4 record in ACC games. Syracuse has won the last two meetings, one at a neutral site followed by last year's game in Chapel Hill.
- The series is an even split over the last 10 games, with North Carolina winning four straight from 2019 to the first meeting in 2023.
- Syracuse is seeking its first win at the JMA Wireless Dome against the Tar Heels since a 13-12 overtime win on April 14, 2018, backed by a furious four-goal flurry for the Orange and capped by a Brendan Bomberry OTGWG.
A WIN ON SATURDAY WOULD...
- Bump Syracuse's ACC record to 3-1, the second-straight year the Orange go 3-1 in league play.
- Log the 10th win of the season for Syracuse, marking back-to-back seasons with double digit wins for the first time since winning at least 10 from 2013-2017.
- Mark the sixth win over a top 20 team this season, matching last season's total including the postseason.
- See the Orange win a game at home against North Carolina for the first time since 2018 (only two games at home since).
- Be the first time Syracuse beats Carolina in three straight games since winning four straight from 2015-17.
- Be the 958th win in program history, second-most among Division I programs.
BROTHERS DON'T SHAKE HANDS

- The Syracuse English got the better of Ty last spring with a 10-9 win in Chapel Hill, the first time any of the English brothers actually played against each other, with injury getting in the way.
- Sam English is 1-0 against his brothers this year, back the Orange to a 13-10 win over then-No. 7 Johns Hopkins on March 9.
- The ACC English brothers have a 2-0 lead on their B1G brother this year as UNC clipped the Blue Jays 13-12 in Baltimore on Feb. 22.
