Orange Move Up One Spot This Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After picking up another pair of top 20 wins over the weekend, Syracuse University field hockey elevated back into the top five of the NFHCA/Penn Monto Division I National Coaches Poll. The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) released its week four poll Tuesday morning.
The Orange (8-2) moved up one spot back to number five, securing 165 points. Northwestern was first once again with 220 points and all 11 first-place votes. Virginia was second behind 207 points while North Carolina slid to third with 195 points. Harvard secured the number four spot with 192 points.
Seven of Syracuse's 2025 opponents landed on the Week Four poll, including four five in the top 10: No. 2 Virginia, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 7 Wake Forest, No. 8 Princeton, No. 9 Duke, No. 15 Rutgers, No. 18 Louisville.
Syracuse is 5-2 against teams ranked in the top 20 of the NFHCA Coaches Poll at game time this season. The lone setbacks were one-goal losses against Wake Forest, now ranked seventh, and Virginia, now ranked second in the country.
The fifth-ranked Orange return to J.S. Coyne Stadium for their penultimate home game of the regular season this Friday. Game time against Colgate is slated for 5 p.m. Friday will also serve as senior night as the program honors eight seniors and graduate students.
