was invited to attend the July 21-23 USA Basketball Men’s Under-21 National Team Trials in Dallas, Texas…Saint Joseph’s (Pa.) head coach Phil Martelli coached the squad…The United States was 7-1 overall and finished in fifth place…Canada defeated the U.S., 93-90 in overtime, to eliminate the Americans from the medal round…Roberts played in all eight games and started three of the contests…He averaged 5.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest…Roberts had 11 points, 10 rebounds and two steals when the U.S. defeated Puerto Rico in the third game of the preliminary round, 94-79…He made his first start in the fourth game, a 113-78 victory against Nigeria…Roberts came off the bench to score 14 points and contributed five rebounds when the U.S. beat Slovenia in the final preliminary-round game, 82-79…When the U.S. defeated Puerto Rico in a consolation semifinal game, 99-79, Roberts started and had eight points and seven rebounds…The Americans clinched fifth place by beating Argentina, 111-85…Roberts was with the first string and had two points and five boards.
