High School: Holmgren was a two-time All-State and All-District selection, three-time All-Conference pick, two-time offensive MVP and two-time Academic All-State and All-Conference honoree through three years of high school softball … She competed for Roland-Story High School from eighth grade through sophomore year before switching to the Iowa Blitz, a traveling team … For Roland-Story, Holmgren set program records for career batting average (.483) and single-season batting average (.582), while finishing second in school history with 37 doubles … Holmgren ranked fifth in the state of Iowa for her batting average … She was a three-sport athlete, competing in softball, volleyball and track.
