
Orangewomen Defeat St. John's, 80-60, in Regular-Season Finale

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Syracuse senior Jaime James (Plymouth, Mass./ Plymouth North) scored 15 of her game-high 25 points in the second half to lead the Syracuse women's basketball team to an 80-60 win at Manley Field House in the regular-season finale for both schools.
Syracuse enters the BIG EAST Tournament as the seventh seed with a 16-11 overall record and a 9-7 mark in conference play. St. John's ends the year 3-24 overall and 0-16 in the BIG EAST.
The Orangewomen came out sluggish in the first half, shooting 7-of-24 (29.2 percent) from the floor, but played the Red Storm to a 28-28 draw at intermission thanks to 12-of-17 (70.6 percent) shooting from the free throw line.
With SU ahead 39-34 at the 15:31 mark, James lead a 19-4 surge over the next 5:32 as the lead swelled to 58-38. James scored 11 points during the run, including three three-pointers. The Red Storm was unable to recover and would get only as close as 71-55 at the 2:58 mark.
James shot 10-of-16, including 5-of-10 from behind the arc in her last home game as an Orangewoman. Seniors Jazmine Wright (South Orange, N.J./Columbia), Leaf Newman (Perris, Calif./Perris) and Tara Trammell (Constantia, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) also played in their last home game. Wright finished with 10 points, followed by seven from Newman and five from Trammell.
James now has 61 three pointers this season, becoming the first Orangewoman ever to have two seasons with 60 or more triples (62, 1999-2000). James finished her BIG EAST regular-season career with 144 three-pointers in conference play, fourth-best in the history of the league.
Sophomore forward Shannon Perry (Providence, R.I./La Salle) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds and scored 15 points off the bench. Classmate Julie McBride (Mechanicville, N.Y./Catholic Central) also poured in 15 points and dished out nine assists. McBride became the first player in SU history to have more than 150 assists and 400 points in the same season.
Shemika Stevens led the Red Storm with 16 points. Patrycja Gu>lak scored 10 points and grabbed a seven rebounds.
