SYRACUSE, N.Y.— The Syracuse University women's tennis team defeated Army, 5-2, on Saturday April 6 at Drumlins Tennis Club. The win improves the Orangewomen's record to 7-10 in dual matches. Army is now 11-11.
The win was the second consecutive for Syracuse, marking the first back-to-back victories since February 9-10 versus Rutgers and Temple. Junior Shervin Saedina (Woodland Hills, CA/Calabasas) notched a pair of wins, pushing her career total to 97. This puts her just three wins shy of becoming the 23rd Orangewoman in the 32-year history of the program to win 100 career matches.
Freshman Kristine Bech Holte (Oslo, Norway/Fagerborg vgs.) continues to lead the team in victories (30) after winning a pair of matches. She defeated Melanie Bundoc at No. 4 singles when Bundoc had to withdraw because of an injury. She paired with Jessica Schlosser (Nedrow, NY/Christian Brothers Academy) and defeated Annie Collier and Melissa Sentelle 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.
SU returns to action next weekend with matches at Eastern Illinois and Missouri on April 12 and 13, respectively.
