Boston University Beats SU For Conlan Cup

BOSTON – The Orangemen crew team lost its first race of the 2003 spring season to Boston University Saturday. The Terriers reclaimed the Conlan Cup from Syracuse by beating the varsity eight by half a second, 6:25.40 to SU’s 6:25.90.
SU’s JV eight defeated BU by a narrow margin, finishing the 2,000 meter course in 6:38.25 to Boston’s 6:39.75. The Terriers’ freshman eight overcame Syracuse’s, 6:45.35 to 7:02.52.
“I thought the JV rowed a smart race and stuck to the plan,” Syracuse head coach Dave Reischman said. “The varsity rowed a tough race, but wasn’t as intelligent as the JV.”
SU travels to nearby Providence to race Brown on Sunday at 6:00 a.m.
