
No. 11 Orangewomen Finish Regular Season With 14-3 Win

SYRACUSE, NY - The Syracuse University women’s lacrosse team finished the regular season with a 14-3 win against Northwestern on Saturday afternoon in the Carrier Dome.
The No. 11 Orangewomen (10-5) must until Sunday’s NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship selection show to see if they will advance to their fourth consecutive NCAA tournament.
Seven different players scored for the Orangewomen. Senior Kim Wayne led the team with five points on three goals and two assists. Junior Leigh-Ann Zimmer tallied a hat trick and dished out one assist. Junior Cristine Doran, junior Danielle Lillis and sophomore Jessica Bell each recorded two goals.
Syracuse scored four straight goals in the first nine minutes of the game. After Angela McMahon scored to put NU on the scoreboard, the Orangewomen rattled off six straight goals, including three by Zimmer, to take a 10-1 lead. SU tallied four of the next six goals to seal the win.
Syracuse outshot the Wildcats, 31-17, and forced 12 NU turnovers.
Senior goalie Carla Gigon made 10 saves for the Orangewomen. Senior Ellen Rust recorded her first point of the season with an assist off a Wayne goal in the second half.
