
Orangewomen Lose to No. 73 Yale, 5-2

For the first time since January 31 the Orange played with a full line-up. SU senior Trine Lise Juliussen defeated Karlyn Martin, 6-3, 7-6(4) at No. 1 singles and freshman Ashley Lipton defeated Christine Alford, 6-1, 5-7, 10-6, at No. 2. The Bulldogs won the other four singles matches in straight sets. Senior Jessica Schlosser returned from injury to compete at No. 3 but lost to Reshmi Srinath, 6-0, 6-0. Olivia Nix defeated sophomore Wei-Ming Leong, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 4, and Stephanie White beat freshman Kendyl Severino, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5. Senior Marion Charlier lost to Aimee Kim, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 6.
Yale swept the three doubles matches. Rashmee Patil and Kim shut out Lipton and Severino, 8-0, at No. 2, and White and Nix defeated Schlosser and Charlier, 8-2, at No. 3. At No. 1, Juliussen and Leong battled Martin and Alford to a tiebreaker, but lost, 9-8(4).
The Orangewomen return to BIG EAST competition at Connecticut on Sunday, February 29, at 11:00 a.m.
