
Orangewomen Tennis Team Loses to Furman, 7-0

SU played with just five student-athletes for the second time this weekend. The Paladins earned injury default victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Senior Trine Lise Juliussen and sophomore Wei-Ming Leong lost, 8-5, to Caroline Bentley and Jacqueline Eckert at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, freshmen Katie Bramante and Ashley Lipton lost to Shannon Moore and Lisa Bornt-Davis, 8-6.
Furman swept each of the five singles matches in two sets. Mary Neill Hagood defeated Juliussen, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 1; Moore defeated Lipton, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 2; Bonnie Baird defeated Leong, 6-1, 6-4; and Bently defeated freshman Kendyl Severino, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5. Eckert needed a tie-breaker to earn a victory at No. 3 singles, 2-6, 7-6(2), against Bramante.
Syracuse hosts Rutgers on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 11:00 a.m., at the Drumlins Tennis Center.
