Men’s Rowing to compete at San Diego Crew Classic

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse University men's rowing team will begin its 2008 season by competing at the San Diego Crew Classic in San Diego, California on April 5-6. The Orange finished their 2007 season with a 17th-place at the I.R.A. Regatta and the varsity eight went undefeated in the regular season and was ranked in the top-10 nationally all year.

The San Diego Crew Classic which is celebrating its 35th Anniversary is set to take place on Saturday April 5 from 7.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday April 6 from 7.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. at the Crown Point Shores Park at Mission Bay in San Diego.

The Orange will be competing against seven of last spring’s top 11 crews in the final national poll. The teams participating include the University of Washington, Harvard, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, Oregon State, Berkely, defending Crew Classic Copley Cup Champion, Stanford and 2007 Crew Classic American Specialty Health Cal Cup winner UC San Diego.

Orange alumni, family, friends and fans are invited to join us in the Orange Club/Alumni Relations hospitality tent and show their support for the Orange as we cheer them on during the competition. Registered alumni should watch their mailboxes for more information about how to sign up for our hospitality tent. If you are interested in renting additional equipment, furnishing and equipment forms for the event are available on the Syracuse University Web site. The deadline for ordering equipment is March 27 at 5 p.m.
