SYRACUSE - The sixth-ranked Syracuse University field hockey team continues its six-game on Sun., Oct. 4, when it hosts No. 20 Albany at 2:30 p.m. Sunday's meeting between Syracuse and Albany will mark the 10th between the two institutions. Syracuse holds an 8-1 lead in the series. The Orange has outscored the Great Danes, 35-9. SU is 6-0 all-time against Albany in Syracuse. The Orange defeated the Great Danes last season 3-1 in Albany.
Syracuse pushed its win streak to seven and improved to 10-1 overall after defeating No. 9 Massachusetts, 5-2, yesterday at J.S. Coyne Stadium.
UAlbany (8-2, 0-0 America East) comes to Syracuse riding a five-game winning streak. The Great Danes defeated Saint Francis (6-0), Temple (1-0), Colgate (3-1), Providence (2-1) and Fairfield (7-1). Nicole Savage, the current America East Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week, has recorded a team best 17 points off a team-high six goals and five assists. Jess Lindsey has dished out a team-best eight assists. Christine Hoffman and Kristi Troch have split time in the cage. Hoffman has posted a goals-against-average of 0.20 and a saves percentage of .950 in the cage for the Great Danes, while Troch has recorded a 1.00 GAA and a .722 saves percentage.
