SYRACUSE – Six different Syracuse players scored and junior forward Lindsey Conrad recorded eight points off three goals and two assists as the sixth-ranked Orange field hockey squad crushed BIG EAST foe Georgetown, 10-0, this afternoon at J.S. Coyne Stadium. With its ninth consecutive victory SU improves to 12-1 overall and 3-0 in the BIG EAST, while the Hoyas move to 1-11, 1-2.
Junior back Maggie Befort and sophomore forward Heather Susek each scored two goals. Freshman back Amy Kee registered one goal and two assists. Sophomore back Shannon Connolly and redshirt freshman back Erika Wachter each scored their first career goal. Sophomore midfielder Martina Loncarica rounded out the scoring with one assist.
Befort opened the scoring in the sixth minute, followed by goals from Conrad (8:02), Susek (12:34) and Kee (28:16). Loncarica provided the assist on Susek's goal. Conrad made the score 5-0 at halftime with her second goal of the afternoon.
Connolly scored her first career goal of a hit from Conrad to open the second half. Befort tallied her second of the day off a pass from Kee at 60:09 to put the score at 7-0. Wachter tallied her first career goal off another feed from Conrad at 64:43. Susek scored her second of the day to give SU a 9-0 advantage at 68:26. Conrad completed the hat-trick off a pass from Kee.
Freshman goalkeeper Leann Stiver and graduate keeper Ashleigh McGowan combined to make two saves in the shutout. Clodagh Coghlan and Briana Pereira combined to make 15 saves for the Hoyas.
Syracuse outshot Georgetown, 52-3, and held a 17-4 advantage in penalty corners.
The Orange concludes its six-game homestand on Sunday when it hosts Dartmouth at 2 p.m.
