BOSTON – The Syracuse Orange women's rowing season opened its spring season by winning four of six races against Boston University on Saturday, March 28 at the DeWolfe Boathouse in Cambridge, Mass. The Orange won the novice four, second varsity four, the second varsity eight and the novice eight races. The Terriers retained the Kittell Cup by winning the varsity eight race. BU also won the varsity four race.
“Winning four of six races against Boston University is a good start to our spring season,” said assistant coach Alicea Kochis. “We came out of the water knowing where we need to get better and we look forward to seeing BU again at the Eastern Sprints.”
Syracuse began the day with a win in the novice four and second varsity four. The Orange posted a time of 8:15.0 and 8:25.8, respectively. The Terriers finished the novice four in 9:17.0 and the second varsity four in 8:32.1.
Boston won the next race, defeating SU in the varsity eight, 6:51.7 to 6:56.2.
Syracuse took home the second varsity eight heat with a time of 7:07.2. BU finished in 7:14.7.
The Terriers finished the varsity four race in 7:57.2. The Orange came in at 8:06.6.
SU won the last race of the day, finishing the novice eight with a time of 7:14.5. BU posted a time of 7:31.9.
Syracuse returns to the action next weekend, when the Orange hosts Cornell and Yale for the Cayuga Cup at the James A. Ten Eyck Boathouse located at Onondaga Lake Outlet in Longbranch Park.
