SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse men's soccer team will conclude its spring practice season with four home matches this month. The Orange will host the United Soccer League's (USL) Montreal Impact on Tuesday, April 14 at 3 p.m. followed by home dates with Colgate (April 16), GS United (April 19) and the annual Alumni Game (April 25).
The highlight of the team's remaining schedule is Tuesday's exhibition with the Impact. Montreal sold more than 42,000 tickets for its CONCACAF Champions League match at Olympic Stadium on Feb. 25 and has consistently been one of the top teams in the USL's First Division.
The Syracuse program has close ties with the Canadian club. Former Orange standout Gabriel Gervais played seven seasons for the Impact before retiring in January. Gervais named the league's Defender of the Year three times during his stint with the team.
Rising senior Tom Perevegyencev is the Orange's top returning scorer. Perevegyencev tied for the team lead in 2008 with six goals.
Locations of the four exhibition matches are weather dependent, but will either be played at the SU Soccer Stadium, the Hookway Practice Fields or Wohl Field.
