
Eight Earn BIG EAST All-Academic Honors

The Syracuse men's soccer team had eight players selected to the 2008-09 BIG EAST All-Academic Team. Earning the award for the third time were rising seniors Pete Hill, Elliott Townsend and departed senior Spencer Schomaker. Schomaker earned his degree in psychology in May and led the Orange in points this past season with 17.
Rising senior and finance major Kenny Caceros was named to the team for the second time. Finally, rising junior Justin Arena, rising sophomore Nick Olivetti, rising senior Sean Summerville, and Andrew Usyk were first-time honorees.
Syracuse posted an 8-6-3 overall record in 2008 and opens the 2009 campaign on the road Sept. 1 at Binghamton. The team's first home match is Sept. 5 against Ivy League foe Cornell.
