West Point, N.Y. – The wins keep coming for the Syracuse tennis team in the Eastern Championships tournament. Freshman CC Sardinha, junior Simone Kalhorn and sophomore Emily Harman have all advanced to the final rounds of their brackets. All three were the number one seeds in their respective flights and haven't looked back since.
Sardinha defeated opponents from Sacred heart and UMass in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds to advance to the final round. Kalhorn had no problem taking on foes from UMass and Stony Brook in the two rounds Saturday to earn her spot in the finals, while Harman also defeated a Minuteman opponent in the quarterfinal round and a challenger from Cornell in the semifinal round. All three will continue their quest to be champion Sunday as singles play continues.
After experiencing a setback in the doubles tournament, the duo of sophomores Allison Haynes and Alessondra Parra continue to advance in the doubles consolation bracket. They will face Long Island in the final today as doubles play gets under way.
The three-day Eastern Championships tournament is being held at West Point and features play from 31 different schools. Continue to follow SUathletics.com for more tournament coverage and results from Sunday's action.
