
Orange Hosts Quinnipiac for First Time

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The rv/10 Syracuse University women's ice hockey team welcomes the Quinnipiac Bobcats to Tennity Ice Pavilion for the first time on Friday, January 15 at 7 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. face off on Saturday afternoon. The Orange is coming off two road wins at No. 8 Cornell and St. Anselm, improving its record to 13-8-1.
SU Earns 10th CHA Award
Freshman forward Holly Carrie-Mattimoe picked up her first College Hockey America Rookie of the Week honor, and the team's 10th, for her performances against Cornell and St. Anselm. At Cornell, the Sherwood Park, Alberta native scored both Orange goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead Syracuse to its first victory against a ranked opponent in program history. Carrie-Mattimoe scored one goal and dished out two assists against St. Anselm on Jan. 8. She has scored a goal in three consecutive games for SU, increasing point total this season to 16, which is fourth on the team.
Last Time Out
Freshman forward Isabel Menard tallied a career-high five points to become the leading point scorer on the team as the No. 10 Syracuse University ice hockey team defeated St. Anselm, 7-2, on Friday evening. Menard was one of six players to score in Syracuse's second consecutive road win. Junior Julie Rising scored her team-high tying 11th goal of the season, while senior goaltender Lucy Schoedel and sophomore goaltender Stephanie Jones split time in the net and made a combined 15 saves.
Orange Against the Bobcats
Syracuse beat Quinnipiac, 2-0, for its first win in program history. Juniors Julie Rising and Stefanie Marty scored goals, while senior goaltender Lucy Schoedel recorded her first shutout as the Orange goaltender. Head coach Paul Flanagan earned his 231st career victory in the collegiate ranks and his first landmark win for the Syracuse ice hockey program at the TD Banknorth Center. The Bobcats recorded a victory against the Orange in the first game.
Scouting Quinnipiac
The Bobcats holds a 9-7-6 overall record with a 6-3-5 record in ECAC conference play. Heather Hughes leads the team, scoring 10 goals and adding eight assists this year. Freshman goaltender Victoria Vigilanti has seen action in 22 games for Quinnipiac and holds a .942 save percentage. Vigilanti was awarded two ECAC Hockey awards this week for her play against Harvard and Dartmouth.
