Last week, BIGEAST.TV released a profile of Orange junior Erica Morrow. The profile highlights Morrow's contribution to the women's basketball program, as well as developments in her personal and educational life which have helped her succeed on the court. The video quotes numerous Orange personalities, including women's basketball head coach Quentin Hillsman and Athletics Director Dr. Daryl Gross, recognizing her contributions to the team's growth during the past three seasons.
After two successful seasons on the court, Morrow sought a way to reduce stress and make the game more enjoyable. Through a meditation-based class offered at the University, Morrow has been able to take relaxation strategies from the class and apply them to her approach on the court. Her teammates have noticed the change.
“She's playing more relaxed and at practice she's more relaxed, so I think the meditation has helped her a lot,” said Orange guard Tasha Harris, who took the class with Morrow.
“I feel like I'm more at peace with myself,” Morrow said.
A McDonald's All-American in high school, Morrow joined the team in 2007-08, the first year in which Hillsman guided the team to an NCAA Tournament berth. In each of her first two seasons, Morrow finished second on the team in scoring average, amassing 13.9 points per game in 2007-08 and 15.7 ppg in 2008-09. Her performance as an offensive force and team leader has propelled the Orange to success yet again in 2009-10, with the team compiling a 16-4 record for the first time in program history.
“Erica was a program-changer for us,” Hillsman said.
