SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse sophomore Amanda Hamilton was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District I Women's Soccer Second Team on Tuesday, Nov. 2. It is Hamilton's first academic all-district honor and marks the fifth time a member of the Orange has earned all-district honors in the past five years.
Hamilton played in 12 games for the Orange in 2010, making two starts on defense. She helped Syracuse post shutouts against Old Dominion and Binghamton. Hamilton and the Orange posted six wins this season, its highest single-season victory total since 2007. Syracuse started BIG EAST play with a 2-0 record, marking the first time in school history that SU has won its first two conference games of the year.
A marketing management major, Hamilton is a two-time member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and was a member of the 2009-10 BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team.
To be eligible for the Academic All-America program, student-athletes must achieve sophomore standing at their current school and possess a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.3.
