PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Syracuse sophomore Tina Romagnuolo has been named to the All-BIG EAST Women's Soccer Second Team for the second consecutive season in a vote by the league's head coaches. In addition, freshman goalkeeper Brittany Anghel was selected to the conference All-Rookie Team.
Romagnuolo, a midfielder, tied for the team lead in points (9) and goals (4) this season. Two of her four goals were game-winners, including the go-ahead tally against Albany with 50 seconds remaining. Romagnuolo now has 13 goals in her career, which tie her for ninth place on the Orange's career leader list. She becomes the first Syracuse player to earn All-BIG EAST honors in back-to-back seasons since Anne-Marie Lapalme in 2002-03.
Anghel recorded 91 saves in her freshman campaign, which is the sixth-highest single-season total in school history. She posted six shutouts on the year, which tie her for fourth on SU's single-season record list. Anghel became the first Syracuse player to earn BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week honors after posting two consecutive shutouts against Rutgers and Seton Hall. She ranked second in the league in saves and third in save per game (5.06).
Syracuse's two All-BIG EAST honorees mark the sixth time in program history that the Orange has had two or more players named to the all-conference teams.
