ORANGE, N.J. - Senior outside hitter Hayley Todd led Syracuse (22-7, 4-7) with a double-double in a 3-1 loss to Seton Hall (12-15, 6-5) on Saturday afternoon at Walsh Gymnasium. Todd paired a team-best 15 kills with 11 digs in the loss.
Senior right side hitter Mindy Stanislovaitis was second on the team with 11 kills while hitting a team-best .375 hitting percentage. Freshman outside hitter Samantha Clarey bolstered the Orange offense with a career-best seven kills and four total blocks while classmate Lindsay McCabe had five kills and six total blocks. Sophomore setter Laura Homann directed the Syracuse offense, dishing out 38 assists while adding five digs and a trio of kills.
Defensively, junior outside hitter Noemie Lefebvre led the back row with 17 digs and three kills while junior libero Ashley Williams added 14. Senior defensive specialist Sarah Hayes had 10 back row pickups and sophomore Samantha Hinz added four total blocks to round out the defensive effort.
Seton Hall took the first two sets, 25-17, 25-17 before the Orange battled back to a 25-22 third-set win. SU kept things close in the fourth set, but the Pirates pulled out the vital two-point advantage, 26-24, to take the match, 3-1.
The Orange wraps up its regular-season road schedule with a visit to Rutgers on Sunday, November 7 at 2 p.m.
