SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Orange head men's soccer coach Ian McIntyre has been on the road recruiting extensively since he took over the program on Jan. 6, and he and his staff have already made significant headway in that area during his short time on campus.
"Our coaching staff is working extremely hard to finalize our first recruiting class here at Syracuse. Although we did start a little late this recruiting year, we will shortly be announcing the signing of several outstanding student-athletes,” McIntyre said. “It has been important to attract student-athletes who share our collective vision for the Syracuse soccer program, student-athletes who are committed to working towards success both on and off the soccer field."
The National Letter-of-Intent (NLI) signing period for men's soccer begins today and continues through Aug. 1. Over the course of the next several months, McIntyre will continue working to bring in top student-athletes as he prepares for his first season on the Orange sideline.
The NLI program was started in 1964. Administered by the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA), it was designed with prospective student-athletes in mind. A signed letter-of-intent indicates a prospective student-athlete agrees to attend the designated college or university for one academic year. Institutions agree to provide athletics financial aid for one academic year to the student-athlete, provided the student-athlete is admitted to the institution and is eligible for financial aid under NCAA rules.
