
Vuolo Helps Reading To PDL Final Four

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Orange senior goalkeeper Jeremy Vuolo will compete for the 2010 United Soccer League's Premier Development League (PDL) Championship this weekend. Vuolo is a member of Reading United AC, which will face top-seeded Portland in the PDL semifinals on Friday, Aug. 6 at 10:30 p.m. EST at PGE Park in Portland, Ore.
Vuolo has played in 14 games for Reading this summer. He made 10 saves in two matches last weekend as Reading defeated the MPS Portland Phoenix and Ottawa Fury to win the Eastern Conference title. Overall, he has 44 saves on the season and five shutouts.
Reading is the fourth seed heading into this weekend and owns a 10-2-4 record. Portland is undefeated at 16-0-0.
The first semifinal will pit No. 2 seed Thunder Bay against third-seeded Baton Rouge Friday at 8 p.m. followed by the Reading-Portland match. The two semifinal winners will meet the following day for the PDL championship at 4 p.m. live on the Fox Soccer Channel.
After starring for Hartwick College for three seasons, Vuolo transferred to Syracuse for his upcoming senior campaign. He started 53 matches for the Hawks from 2007-09 and recorded more than 200 saves. The 2009 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Goalkeeper of the Year, Vuolo sports a career goals-against average of 0.92.
