
Bellingham Named to BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Megan Bellingham has been named to the BIG EAST Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll after helping the Orange to two victories last weekend. Bellingham recorded a goal and an assist in each game and moved up a spot on Syracuse's career goals scored list. It is her first career appearance on the conference's weekly honor roll.
Against Albany, Bellingham assisted on Syracuse's first goal, which tied the score at 1-1 in the 76th minute. After the Great Danes had regained the lead, Bellingham scored on a free kick to knot the score, 2-2, in the 81st minute. The Orange went to a 3-2 victory. Against Binghamton, Bellingham opened the scoring with a goal on a corner kick in the in the 67th minute, which proved to be the game winner. She also assisted on Syracuse's final goal in a 4-0 win against the Bearcats.
With two goals last weekend, Bellingham increased her career total to 12. She is now tied with Stacy Shanning (1996-98) for ninth place on Syracuse's career goals scored list. Bellingham is the Orange's leading scorer this season with nine points (3g, 3a).
Bellingham and the Orange open BIG EAST play on Friday when it hosts St. John's at 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. Syracuse enters the contest with a 3-3-2 record. Admission to the game is free of charge.
