ORANGE REWIND

The Orange defeated Northeastern, 1-0, in overtime in the tournament opener on Friday, Sept. 10 and lost, 2-0, to eventual tournament champ Columbia on Sunday, Sept. 12. Against Northeastern, junior Nick Roydhouse scored on a direct kick from 22 yards out in the 96th minute to lift the Orange to its first win of the season. Two days later, Columbia struck once in each half to deal Syracuse a two-goal loss. Henning Sauerbier scored off a pass from Hayden Johns in the 21st minute to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. Columbia's Bayo Adafin found the net with 8:02 left to play to put the game away.
JONES MAKES FIRST START OF THE SEASON, CONTRIBUTES TO SHUTOUT
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Jones received his first start of the 2010 season against Northeastern. He made four saves in the first half before being replaced at the intermission by redshirt senior Jeremy Vuolo. The Orange went on to defeat the Huskies, 1-0, in overtime for its first clean sheet of the year, matching its season shutout total from 2009.
SCOUTING AMERICAN
The Eagles are 2-2-0 thus far in 2010 with wins against Howard (3-0) on Sept. 1 in the D.C. College Cup and Princeton (2-1) on the road Sept. 10.
