PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Syracuse redshirt senior goalkeeper Jeremy Vuolo was named to the BIG EAST Men's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, Sept. 27 for his performances against Cornell and Pittsburgh last week. Vuolo totaled 18 saves in the two contests to help the Orange to a 1-1 draw against the Big Red on Sept. 22 and a 0-0 stalemate against the Panthers on Sept. 25.
For the week, Vuolo posted a 0.40 goals-against average and a .948 save percentage. He allowed one goal in 220 minutes of action.
Against Cornell, Vuolo made a career-high nine saves. He equaled that showing against the Panthers, finishing with nine stops to record his first shutout of the season and the 19th clean sheet of his career.
Vuolo's final save against Pittsburgh came with less than two minutes to play in the second OT. He made a one-on-one stop against Terry Boland when he came out to challenge Boland on a breakaway. Vuolo slid and Boland's shot hit his chest, preserving the stalemate.
Vuolo and the Orange are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 28 for a match against Canisius. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. The game will be streamed live on SUathletics.com via Orange All Access.
