PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Syracuse freshman Brittany Anghel has been named to the BIG EAST Women's Soccer Honor Roll for her performance in the Orange's two games last week. The goalkeeper tallied 15 saves and a shutout, helping Syracuse to a 1-0-1 record. The honor is the first for Anghel this season.
Against St. John's, Anghel made fives to lead Syracuse to a 1-0 victory. It was Anghel's fourth shutout of the season, which places her in a tie for seventh on Syracuse's career leader list. With the win, the Orange improved its BIG EAST record to 2-0 for the first time in school history. Anghel recorded a career-high 10 saves against Connecticut, marking the first time that an SU goalkeeper has reached double figures in saves since 2007.
This season, Anghel has a 1.44 goals-against average and a .767 save percentage. She has made 46 saves, which ranks third in the BIG EAST.
Syracuse (5-4-3) goes on the road for a pair of games this weekend. The Orange plays at No. 5/9 Notre Dame on Friday before playing at DePaul on Sunday.
