‘Cuse to Host 2011-12 and 2012-13 BIG EAST Championships

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The BIG EAST Conference recently announced dates and sites for its Olympic sport championships for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic years. Syracuse has been selected as one of the sites by the BIG EAST Championship and Competition Committee for three championships.
The Orange will host the 2011 BIG EAST Field Hockey championship at J.S. Coyne Stadium on November 5-6, the 2012 BIG East Women's Lacrosse championship at the Carrier Dome on May 3 and 5 and as well as the 2013 BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse championship at the Carrier Dome May 2 and 4.
As defending BIG EAST Champions, the Syracuse Field Hockey team will host the championship for the sixth time. The BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Championship will return to the 'Cuse after the league's inaugural championship an SU victory in 2007. The Orange recently hosted the 2010 Cross Country BIG EAST Championship. Syracuse is one of twelve schools serving as host institutions in the two-year timeframe.
