
Orange Tennis Completes Perfect Weekend

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse tennis team completed a prefect 3-0 weekend with a commanding 6-1 win against BIG EAST opponent Cincinnati on Sunday at Drumlins Tennis Center. The Orange moves to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
In doubles play, junior Emily Harman and freshman Maddie Kobelt teamed up to defeat Cincinnati's Jasmine Lee and Ksenia Slyncko, 8-4. Harman and Kobelt are 5-2 as a doubles pair this season. Junior Alessondra Parra and senior Simone Kalhorn clinched the doubles point for Syracuse with a tiebreaker victory, 9-8(5), against the Bearcats' Caitlin O'Gara and Lindsey Lonergan.
Freshman Aleah Marrow and senior #Jacquelynn# Tang were defeated by Cincinnati's Elise Woulfe and Ashleigh Witte, 8-5.
Harman finished the day 2-0 with her win at the No. 2 singles spot against UC's Lee (6-3, 6-1). Today's two wins helped Harman reach the 80-win milestone in her career. Marrow (6-3, 6-2) and senior Christina Tan (6-3, 6-3) overpowered their opponents at the No. 4 and No. 5 singles spots, respectively.
Kobelt secured the No. 3 singles point with a tiebreak victory in the second set, 6-0, 7-6(3). Kalhorn overcame a 3-6 loss in the first set and took the next two sets (6-3, 6-2) to record SU's fifth singles point.
Parra lost a close tiebreaker to Slyncko, 2-6, 4-6 (10-7), at the No. 1 slot to move to 4-4 this season.
The Orange hit the road next weekend to take on Boston University on Saturday, February 20 at 10 a.m.
