SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Two winning streaks collide on Wednesday, February 9, when No. 12/13 Syracuse hosts archrival No. 11/11 Georgetown at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. The Orange (20-4, 7-4) has won two consecutive contests, while the Hoyas (18-5, 7-4) have won six in a row.

Fans not in attendance can watch the game live on ESPN or listen to the action via the Syracuse Sports Network and its flagship TK99 (99.5 FM). 849 AND COUNTING
Syracuse's win at USF was the 849th career victory for Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim. With one more win, Boeheim will become just the fifth Division I coach to record 850 career victories. He will join an elite group that includes Bob Knight, Mike Krzyzewski, Dean Smith and Adolph Rupp.
Boeheim ranks second in wins among active Division I coaches, trailing only Coach K at Duke.
YOUTH CONTRIBUTES TO WIN AT USF
Freshmen Dion Waiters and #C.J. Fair# played a large role in Syracuse's victory at USF last weekend. Waiters was one of three players to reach double figures in scoring with 10 points. Fair tied his career high with nine rebounds, including seven on the defensive end. He also blocked three shots for the second time this season. In addition, freshman Fab Melo scored four points, grabbed three rebounds and blocked one shot. Baye Moussa Keita also pulled down three rebounds, helping Syracuse to a 41-27 advantage on the boards.
JACKSON RANKS AMONG NATION'S BEST
Senior Rick Jackson ranks in the top five in the nation in two statistical categories this season. He is fifth in rebounding, averaging 11.5 per game. Morehead State's Kenneth Faried leads the nation with a 14.2 per game average. Jackson has recorded 16 double-doubles this season, which tie him for fourth in the country. Jordan Williams has posted 20 double-doubles in 23 games for Maryland this season.
Jackson also ranks 16th in the nation in field goal percentage (58.3) and 29th in blocked shots (2.3 per game).
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ORANGE
The Orange secured its 14th consecutive 20-win season with a 72-49 victory at USF on Saturday. Senior Rick Jackson scored a season-high 21 points as SU won its second straight game.
The first eight minutes of the game featured four lead changes and three ties before Syracuse went on a 12-0 scoring run to take the lead for good. Kris Joseph and #C.J. Fair# had four points apiece during the run. USF cut the Orange's lead to six, 32-26, at the 2:32 mark, but the Orange outscored the Bulls, 5-2, in the final two minutes to take a nine-point advantage into the locker room at halftime.
Syracuse opened the second half with a 10-2 to regain its double-digit lead, 47-31, with 16 minutes to play. USF would not go away and cut SU's lead to 10, 49-39 with 11:29 on the clock. The teams traded baskets during the next six minutes before Joseph sparked Syracuse on a 10-0 scoring run that put the game out of reach.
Jackson was one of three players to reach double figures in scoring for SU. Joseph finished with 14 points, while freshman Dion Waiters added 10 off the bench. Jackson also pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds for his 16th double-double of the season. Fair tied his season high with nine rebounds, helping the Orange to a 41-27 advantage on the boards.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
After losing four of its first five BIG EAST games of the year, Georgetown has gone 6-0 in league play. The Hoyas are coming off an 83-81 victory against Providence last weekend.
Georgetown is led by BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year Austin Freeman. He is averaging 18.7 points per game, which ranks third in the BIG EAST. Chris Wright and Jason Clark are also averaging double figures in scoring. Wright has contributed 12.8 points per contest, while Clark is right behind with a 12.5 per game average. Julian Vaughn is Georgetown's leading rebounder, averaging 6.5 per game.
The Hoyas are the most accurate shooting team in the BIG EAST, converting 50.5 percent of their shots. Syracuse ranks second in the league in field goal percentage defense, limiting its opponents to a 39.0 shooting percentage.
Head coach John Thompson III is in his seventh season at the helm of the Georgetown program. He has guided the Hoyas to a record of 157-67 and to four appearances in the NCAA Tournament in the last six years. Previously, Thompson served as head coach at Princeton for four years after serving as an assistant coach for the Tigers from 1995-2000.
THE SERIES
The Orange leads the all-time series with Georgetown, 45-38. Last season, Syracuse won both regular-season meetings for the first time since 2003. SU is 28-12 against Georgetown at home and has also won 10 of the last 14 meetings.
Wednesday night's game will be the 84th all-time meeting between the Orange and the Hoyas. The two teams first met in 1930, when Syracuse won 40-18.
