
Home Streak at Stake Against Big Red

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse tennis team has won 19-straight matches on its home court and looks to extend that mark to 20 when it hosts Cornell on Thursday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Drumlins Tennis Center. The Orange's streak dates back to Feb. 22, 2009, when Syracuse lost a 4-3 match to Iowa State. So far this season, the Orange is 7-0 on its home turf and Head Coach Luke Jensen owns a 36-5 all-time record at home.
Orange fans are being encouraged to “Pack Drumlins” for the U.S. Tennis Association Appreciation Night. Admission to Thursday's match is free to the public.

Kobelt Shines in Freshman Campaign
Freshman Maddie Kobelt is having an impressive first season with the
Orange. Already, the New Albany, Ohio native has a team-best 9-2 record in singles and is tied for first in doubles with an 8-3 record. Overall, Kobelt has a 17-5 record so far this season. Kobelt has switched between playing at the No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions and has played at the No. 1 doubles spot with Emily Harman for nine straight matches.
Harman Moves Back to No. 1 Singles Slot
Last weekend against Temple, junior co-captain Emily Harman moved back into the No. 1 singles spot and defeated Temple's Theresa Stangl, 6-2, 6-3. Harman, who played at top singles spot for the first time this season, is cur¬rently second on the team with an 8-1 singles mark. The last time Harman played at the No. 1 singles position was March 12, 2009, when she lost to Binghamton's Lauren Bates, 6-2, 6-3.
Syracuse Remains Unbeaten in BIG EAST Play
With its 7-0 win against West Virginia on Feb. 27, Syracuse has moved to 4-0 against conference opponents so far this seaosn. The Orange began its BIG EAST streak by beating Georgetown (5-2) in Washington, D.C. and then notched wins against Seton Hall (7-0), Cincinnati (6-1) and then West Virginia (7-0) on its home court. SU has dominated each opponent, outscoring conference competitors, 25-3. Last season, the Orange was a perfect 7-0 against BIG EAST foes in the regular season.
Lucky Number Three
The No. 3 singles spot has brought luck to the Syracuse squad in its 2011 campaign. So far this season, the team has gone 10-1 at the No. 3 position with three different student-athletes contributing wins. Maddie Kobelt has a 5-0 record at the spot, Emily Harman a 4-1 record and Christina Tan has a 1-0 record while at the No. 3. As a team, the Orange are 43-18 (.705) overall in singles so far this season.
