
Sayer Named to USA Indoor Team

SYRACUSE – Syracuse University field hockey student-athlete Rachel Sayer was named to the USA Indoor National Training Team. The team will train during the summer and again during the winter, after a break for the collegiate season, in preparations for the 2012 Pan Am Indoor Cup (Chile). The team will also be traveling to Scotland over winter break, Dec. 26-31, 2011 to compete in a tournament in preparation for the Pan Am Cup, Pan Am Qualifier and Pan Am Games.
The sophomore started in three games in 2010, compiling a 3-0 record in the cage for the Orange. The goalkeeper posted a 15-3-2 record in cage her senior year at Saint Joseph H.S. She recorded a goals-against-average of 0.87, while making 108 saves her senior season.
Sayer and the rest of the Orange open the 2011 season against Monmouth on Saturday, August 27 at J.S. Coyne Stadium. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
